Amanda Hoffert Bokan

Amanda Hoffert BokanI entered Bethlehem Area Vocational Technical School (BAVTS) in 1994 and graduated from the Computer Technology program in 1997. While at BAVTS, I competed in the Computer Programming competition for two years and the Extemporaneous Speaking competition for one year. At BAVTS, I was involved in the Cooperative Education program and worked at Fuller Mineral as an entry level clerk in the Accounting Department. This co-op position helped me to decide that accounting was the career I wanted to pursue.

My active involvement with SkillsUSA and the Cooperative Education program helped me to receive the Donnelly Award and the Elmer Gates Enterprise Award during my senior year. In 2002, following my senior year at Saucon Valley High School and BAVTS, I went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting and Finance from Kutztown University. From 2002-2004 I worked as an Accountant for Hansen Aggregates East located in Forks Township, PA. Today I am a financial analyst at Draeger Medical, Inc. in Telford, PA, where I have taken on many responsibilities within the organization. In December, I will graduate with an MBA in accounting from DeSales University.

I know now that my dreams began at Bethlehem Area Vocational Technical School. Through BAVTS and SkillsUSA I have learned the many skills needed to excel in my current profession.
